Respiratory Physiotherapy

Respiratory conditions such as pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, hyperventilation, cystic fibrosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are problems affecting people of all ages. In addition, patients who are in intensive care and on a ventilator are also at risk of developing respiratory problems. Our trained respiratory physiotherapists treat patients of all ages and we use a combination of techniques and progressive exercise training to treat a wide variety of respiratory conditions. These include breathing control and thoracic expansion exercises designed to help patients maximize oxygen intake and provide pain relief. We will also use specific manual techniques to help clear excessive secretions and mucus in the airways. Physiotherapy is an effective and non-invasive method of assisting and treating those suffering breathing difficulties.
